Title: A Study of Cultural Communication in the Literary Supplement of Centre Daily News
Abstract: The 1980s was a prosperous period for Hong Kong newspaper supplements. The Literary Supplement of Centre Daily News gathers famous writers, and the authors hope to promote the prosperity of Hong Kong culture. In terms of cultural communication, the Literary Supplement of Centre Daily News serves as a cultural bridge. On the one hand, the Literary Supplement of Centre Daily News bridges the past and the present vertically. It not only focuses on Hong Kong’s local specialities and preserves collective memory but also passes on the traditional Chinese culture through cultural essays, martial arts novels and classical novels in the contemporary context. On the other hand, it is also open-minded and humanistic, linking up compatriots at home and abroad in the horizontal spatial dimension, and providing a platform for cultural exchanges between the three places on both sides of the Taiwan Strait and overseas Chinese. Researching the cultural dissemination of the Literary Supplement of Centre Daily News can provide a window for understanding the social situation and the exchange of literature and culture at home and abroad.
